Professional Learning Booklet 2022 - 2023

The Professional Learning Booklet for 2022 - 2023 is available as a PDF or you can make your own Google copy to participate in this asynchronous learning opportunity, which can be completed throughout the school year.

Participants work at their own pace as they read the information, watch the videos, complete the activities, and submit a survey to receive a certificate of completion worth 10 contact hours.

More details are on the Professional Development page of the LF4NC Canvas Hub and the Apply & Reflect activities from Semester I are already available and linked in the next section.

During Semester II, we'll be continuing our professional learning journey with the Introduction to LinguaFolio self-paced Canvas course.

Classroom Materials: Intercultural pieces

The next LinguaFolio Biography components we're focusing on this year are the Intercultural Encounter Reflection and the Intercultural Experience Summary. They're available in 13 languages in both PDF and Word versions.

The Intercultural Experience Summary helps students write a description about a specific encounter they've had when they were:

  • Taking a formal course in a language
  • Participating in an interaction in the community or through social media
  • Hosting a guest from a partner school, institution, or family
  • Other

The Intercultural Encounter Reflection is a form that asks students to think about a cultural encounter and use guiding questions to write about the experience.

Go to the Classroom Materials page of the LF4NC Canvas Hub to find links for English as a Second Language (ESL) and World Languages teachers that will take you to where you can download the LinguaFolio Biography components in Arabic, Chinese, English, French, German, Hindi, Hmong, Japanese, Korean, Russian, Spanish, Urdu, and Vietnamese - and in the format that works best for you and your students.
