Feedback Requested for 2023 K-12 Science Standards Draft

Draft 1 of the proposed 2023 K-12 Science Standards is available for public review and comment. Stakeholder input is valuable to the process as it may inform additional revisions to the draft standards.

2022-23 STEM Schools of Distinction Application Request for Reviewers

Education leaders familiar with the STEM Schools of Distinction process are needed to review applications for 2022-23 NC STEM Schools of Distinction Recognition Program.

Those interested can learn more and submit a reviewer application here. Applications are due December 31 and reviews will begin in February.

Student Holiday Performances are Back at NCDPI

NCDPI's annual holiday celebration of arts education returns to in-person performances Dec. 1-20 in the lobby of the Education Building, 301 N. Wilmington St., Raleigh. Performances begin at 11:30 a.m. and will be livestreamed on NCDPI Facebook page.

Braille Letters from Santa

Does Santa read braille? Of course, he does! And BrailleWorks helps him out during this busy time of year by embossing his letters to kids.

Parents, teachers, and friends: There’s no cost to you. Just let us know who the letter is for and we’ll take care of the rest. We’ll even postmark the letter as shipped from the North Pole! We’ve made Santa’s words more accessible to people with a visual impairment by converting them to braille and including a large print copy.

District Highlight: Rowan-Salisbury Schools

"Getting to know new people isn’t always easy, but the East Rowan High Diversity Club came up with a way to make it fun.

"Club members organized the Mix-it-Up luncheon with Rowan-Salisbury Schools Teacher of the Year Rachel Moysan to create a safe and understanding space for students to meet people from different grade levels, peer groups and cultural backgrounds."
