Applications for the School Counseling Guidance Essential Standards Data Review Committee (DRC) are now open through Friday, November 18.
DRC members review the data collected and compiled from Standard-by-Standard surveys, regional focus groups, and interviews, as well as research, policies, and legislation that pertain to World Language education.
Note: The DRC analyzes the feedback and makes recommendations that help drive both the review and revision phases, so individuals chosen for the DRC cannot serve on the Standards Writing Team (SWT) that is convened during the revision phase.
Applications can be submitted through November 18, 2022. The School Counseling DRC will consist of a range of external stakeholders, including: K-12 educators, educational leaders, university professors, content professionals, experts from partner organizations, and community members. The DRC members will be chosen from across the state’s eight regions (pictured in the map below) and represent varying perspectives and experiences regarding the current Standard Course of Study, the North Carolina Guidance Essential Standards.
This application is for those who desire to become part of the School Counseling DRC and the Standards review and revision process. DRC members are selected using a clear process of solicitation, application, screening, and approval. The school counseling team trains the DRC members on the data collected and how to analyze it. Then the DRC analyzes all data points for trends, themes, and ultimately recommendations for revision. For more information about the DRC, including the selection process and scope of work, please see the details in the application or view pages 14 - 16 of the North Carolina SCOS Internal Procedures Manual.
