Monthly Standards Update -- 22-23 SY 3rd Issue

In March 2021, the North Carolina State Board of Education unanimously approved the 2020 ELD Standard Course of Study (SCOS) for implementation in the 2022-2023 school year.  

 

In an effort to keep stakeholders informed during the Initial Implementation phase, the NCDPI ESL/Title III Team provides monthly standards updates that contain the latest announcements and current news regarding the ELD SCOS. These updates are sent every first Tuesday of the month.

Statewide Professional Learning

This school year marks PSUs' initial implementation of the NC ELD Standard Course of Study. Our team is offering state-wide professional learning with a focus on integrating the ELD Standards into Mathematics, Social Studies, Science, and ELA for the 22-23 school year. Both content area educators and language educators are encouraged to attend.

 

Find Ways to Support Multilingual Learners (MLs) in the Social Studies Classroom

This school year marks districts and schools' initial implementation of the NC ELD Standard Course of Study. The NCDPI ML/Title III Team, in collaboration with the NCDPI Social Studies Team, is offering state-wide professional learning with a focus on integrating the ELD Standards into Social Studies. The NCDPI ML/Title III Team is here to support you in the implementation of the ELD Standards in 22-23! The ELD Standards Hub has grown from a few documents in 2021 to over 20 resources in September of 2022. We continue to add to the resources and develop ways to increase the impact of the ELD standards  on ML education!
