Healthful Living Data Review Committees and Standards Writing Teams Applications Reopened
In order to gather representation from all NC State Board regions the Healthful Living Data Review Committees (DRC) and Standards Writing Teams (SWT) have been reopened. We would like to share these opportunities for interested educators and community partners to participate in the K-12 Healthful Living Standards review process.
The goal of the DRC is to review data and trends on the current Healthful Living Standard Course of Study along with feedback collected from interviews, focus groups, and survey responses from stakeholders. The DRC will analyze this data to make recommendations for a separate Standards Writing Team (SWT) to consider.
The goal of the SWT is to write the North Carolina Standard Course of Study (NCSCOS) for Health and Physical Education based on the recommendations of the DRC. The SWT will be trained and have access to all research and data. The SWT will meet periodically throughout the revision process to review and revise the NCSCOS for Health and Physical Education.
NCDPI is seeking applications from a range of stakeholders including K-12 educators from all grade levels, content areas, and resource specialists. Equally important are school/district leaders, educators from institutions of higher education, and business and community leaders.
Please note that those selected to participate will only be able to serve with one of the four teams.
Previous applicants need not reapply.

Healthful Living Standard by Standard Surveys Reopened
In order to gather more data concerning the NC Healthful Living Standards both the Health and Physical Education surveys have been reopened.
The survey is being shared with educators, administrators, parents, students, institutions of higher education, business/industry representatives, national organizations, and other education agencies to gather thoughtful input and comments from stakeholders familiar with the Health and Physical Education Standard Course of Study. The surveys will be used to inform revision decisions, which may include changes, clarifications, additions, deletions, or replacements to the current standards.
This survey is estimated to take about 10 to 20 minutes to complete, depending on how many grades you choose to review.
Your feedback is extremely valuable to the Health and Physical Education standards revision process.
