Global Education Opportunities
Global Educator Digital Badge (GEDB)
The Global Educator Digital Badge (GEDB) provides an opportunity for educators to focus their professional development on developing their own global context and understanding of how to integrate global education throughout curricula. It also provides the opportunity to build global competency in students. The State Board of Education approved North Carolina Global Educator Digital Badge (GEDB) is available for the following educator categories:
- Teacher
- Teacher Leadership Specialist
- Library Media Coordinator
- Instructional Technology Facilitator
- School Counselor
- Career Development Coordinator
- School Social Worker, School Psychologist
- Speech-Language Pathologist
- Instructional Central Office Staff
- Principal/Assistant Principal, Superintendent
In this short video, educators, who have earned the NCDPI Global Educator Digital Badge (GEDB), shared their thoughts on the benefits of getting the badge and how it has impacted their teaching. The words of wisdom from the GEDB recipients may help you to make a decision about applying for the badge. World View to You! Global Education 101 is one of UNC World View’s 2022-2023 virtual outreach programs for K-8 educators. UNC World View’s experts in the global education arena meet with educators, offering an opportunity to develop a deeper understanding of global competencies and offer frameworks for integrating global themes in all disciplines. The sessions are rich with strategies and resources.
This program is fully funded by the NC Department of Public Instruction and there is no registration fee to educators.

North Carolina Aquarium Scholars Grants Available – Apply Now!
Would you like to provide exciting STEM programs from the North Carolina Aquariums or Jennette’s Pier at little to no cost to your school?
Aquarium Scholars is a partnership between the NC Aquariums, NC public schools and the NC Aquarium Society, through which private donors help fund access to Aquarium education programs for Title I eligible schools across the state.
Teachers from Title I eligible schools can apply to receive a grant for a:
· Class visit/field trip of your choice of the three NC Aquariums or Jennette’s Pier
Aquarium outreach program brought to your school
· Virtual outreach program (live online program with Aquarium staff and animals)
The Application Period runs only until Sept. 30, so don’t delay, APPLY TODAY!

Amplifying Statistics and Data Science in Classrooms is a new set of FREE online modules that help educators in grades 6-12:
● Develop strategies for using an investigation cycle to teach statistics and data science
● Ignite students' interest in real world data investigations with technology
● Emphasize inferential reasoning through posing different types of investigative questions
● Earn certificates for up to 40 hrs to apply to CEUs.
Activities and strategies can help you meet the NC statistics standards in grades 6-8, Math 1, 2, 3, AP Statistics, and the new Math 4 course!
