Join the NC Governor's School Experience!

Are you interested in working with exceptionally talented, intellectually engaged high school students in a thriving learning community this summer? If so, come work at the NC Governor’s School.

NCDPI has openings in a variety of positions ranging from Instructors to Dean of Students to Teacher Assistant/Counselors (TACS). The summer session will be from June 13 - July 16 for staff (June 19-July 16 for students) and will be at two campuses: Meredith College and Winston-Salem State University.

WCPSS Future Teachers Program

Graduating high school seniors who want to pursue a K-12 teaching career with the Wake County Public School System and will be attending a college/university are encouraged to apply for the WCPSS Future Teachers program, a recruitment initiative aimed at developing the district’s internal student talent.

NC communities are invited to apply for this 2-year program focused on providing the skills that connect young adults to living-wage employment opportunities.

APCSA Professional Development Opportunity

NCVirtual and UNC Charlotte are hosting a virtual professional development covering tools to support effective online teaching strategies for AP Computer Science Advanced. The workshop will be held from June 20th - July 31st, 2022 online via Canvas and Zoom. There will be two required synchronous sessions via Zoom - an orientation session during Week 1, and a closing session during Week 6. The times for these sessions have not yet been determined.

Guilford County Student Places 2nd in 2022 Digital Rube Goldberg Machine Minecraft Contest

Connor Dustman, student at Northwest Middle School in Guilford County, placed second in the junior division of Minecraft’s Rube Goldberg STEM competition with over 1,000 students competing from 18 different countries.

Competitive After-School Robotics Grant Accepting Applications

Competitive After-School Robotics Grants are now open for PSUs to develop programs with a robotics partner. Grants cover partial to full costs, and participating educators are eligible for a stipend.

District Highlight: Rowan-Salisbury Schools - Job Shadow Day Sends 80 Students into Community Businesses

"Rowan-Salisbury Schools gave some of its students real world experiences as part of an annual job shadowing event on April 13.

The event was virtual in 2021 and this year’s excursions were originally planned for February, but pushed back because of spiking COVID-19 cases, but the show went on last week as 80 students visited 20 employers and Rowan-Cabarrus Community College to explore their career interests."
