Classroom & Program Resources

The information below is being shared on behalf of the American Council on the Teaching of Foreign Languages (ACTFL), which is our national professional organization for all K - 20 World Language educators.

Educator Resources on the Crisis in Ukraine

ACTFL has issued a press release on the Russian invasion of Ukraine, and provided a list of resources for discussing the Ukraine crisis with learners. This list will periodically be updated with additional resources, but already includes information from the American Council of Teachers of Russian (ACTR), Education Week, and We Are Teachers.

Heritage Language Exchange (HLX) Initiative from ACTFL SIG

ACTFL's Teacher Development Special Interest Group (SIG) is sharing information about the Heritage Language Exchange (HLX), a new initiative for and by teachers. The HLX is focused on issues of practice and aims to be a hub of resources for Heritage Language (HL) teachers and programs from all languages and levels of education. Teachers can participate in a weekly 1-minute survey on HL teaching, view "small teaching" videos that feature strategies for improving instruction in HL classrooms, and access the Heritage Voices series.

ACTFL Special Interest Groups (SIGs) provide continuous networking and information sharing on a specific topic or area of interest. SIGs operate year-round through the ACTFL community, newsletters, webinars, and sessions at the ACTFL Annual Convention & World Languages Expo, and ACTFL membership includes unlimited access to all 19 SIG communities.
