New! Current Staff Position Editability

The User Details/Staff Profile field for "Current Staff Position" editability has been restricted to Super Users (NCDPI) and the vendor, PowerSchool Support.

NCEES District Administrators will no longer have access to edit the "Current Staff Position" field (see above screenshot). This update is to facilitate future implementation of PD Only Access to NCEES which is currently in the testing phase. To view this field, navigate to System Administration > User Accounts > click on staff name to open User Details. Alternatively, navigate to My Staff > click drop down by staff name and open User Profile.

The nightly NCEES Person Import File data & the NCEES Demographic file data determine which NCEES role is assigned to staff and which "Current Staff Position" those roles fall under, either "Administrative" or "Instructional". (see NCEES Data v7).

PowerSchool's Engineering team is working with NCDPI on updating the processing of the Person Import file so that it nightly overwrites the "Current Staff Position" (Administrative & Instructional). This will clean up staff that have been manually set to Support.

NCDPI is currently testing adding "Support" as a Demographic "Current Staff Position" that will allow staff without current access to NCEES roles that will create PD Only Access in NCEES. Support Staff (PD Only Access Roles) will have restricted navigation in NCEES.

Please email cami.narron@dpi.nc.gov if you have any questions about this update. NCDPI will communicate updates as the project for PD Only Access moves forward.

NCVPS Updates NCEES Moodle Courses to Canvas

NCVPS has updated content in several Professional Development courses in the NCEES PD Catalog, transferring them over from Moodle to NCDPI's Canvas.

To assist NCEES Professional Development Leads and PSUs that may have these courses on a NCEES PD Playlist or shared in other ways with their staff, please click the link below:

Registration has been removed from these identified Moodle courses. Staff that are in progress in any of these Moodle courses should plan to complete the course by Feb. 25, 2022, after which they will be archived.

Check out the NCVPS Professional Learning website, then navigate to NCEES > Professional Development to search for and start these courses. Staff may also use the NCEES> Professional Development tab > View All link > Refine by Office : NCVPS to view all courses offered by NCVPS through NCEES.

Is your staff new to using DPI's Canvas Courses?

Do staff get a 403 or cannot access Canvas error message after selecting a Canvas Course in NCEES?  Please send any questions to Home_Base@dpi.nc.gov. The NCDPI Canvas and/or NCEES Product Managers will troubleshoot course access. PSUs do not have to have a local Canvas instance to access DPI's Canvas courses.

Screenshot below shows sample notice on NCVPS courses that will be archived after Feb. 25, 2022.
