Carrie B

Carrie Robledo, New Innovative Learning Catalyst

We welcome Carrie Robledo as the Innovative Learning Catalyst for the Central region!

 

Carrie has been an educator for 12 years. She has experience as an Exceptional Children’s teacher, a 5th grade classroom teacher, and as a Digital Integration Facilitator. Carrie is passionate about sharing STEM resources with teachers from across the country and she advocates for equitable STEM access for all students.

In 2017 Carrie was the first educator to bring drones to Moore County Schools and she created a drone coding and engineering strand for 3rd-8th grade students. During the 2019-2020 school year, Carrie coached three First Lego League Robotics teams, all of which advanced to the state FLL qualifier. Elise Elite, an all-female rookie team from Elise Middle School, placed first in the Innovative Solutions award, earning the team 1 of 3 NC invitations to the Global Innovators Award.

 

Carrie is the 2020-2021 NCTIES Outstanding Teacher of the Year, the 2019-2020 Moore County Schools Teacher of the Year, a 2017-2018 North Carolina Digital Leaders Coaching Network alumni, and a 2018-2019 Kenan Fellow. When she's not serving as an Innovative Learning Catalyst on loan to DTL she also serves as a Digital Integration Facilitator for Moore County Schools.

This free conference and elementary robotics/engineering event is back and face-to-face this year!  Come learn more from colleagues about how to successfully integrate high-quality STEM practices in your elementary classroom.

🚚 We’re taking the NCVR Adventures workshop to a region near you! 🚚

 

The DTL Innovative Learning Catalysts are hosting 1-day workshops that are *FREE* to NC K-12 educators, media coordinators, ITFs, guidance counselors… VR headsets are not required - we’ll use the tech tools you already have on hand. 

 

Learn how to positively impact student learning by creating innovative, literacy-rich, project-based learning experiences that will engage students in content areas from science and social studies to math and CTE using tools educators likely have in their classrooms right now. This engaging instructional strategy is applicable to all classrooms and open to anyone eager to take learners on adventures. Explore more at bit.ly/ncvrhome.

NCVPS Updates NCEES Moodle Courses to Canvas

NCVPS has updated content in several Professional Development courses in the NCEES PD Catalog, transferring them over from Moodle to NCDPI's Canvas. 

 

To assist NCEES Professional Development Leads and PSUs that may have these courses on a NCEES PD Playlist or shared in other ways with their staff, please click the link below:

Registration has been removed from these identified Moodle courses. Staff that are in progress in any of these Moodle courses should plan to complete the course by Feb. 25, 2022, after which they will be archived.

 

Check out the NCVPS Professional Learning website, then navigate to NCEES > Professional Development to search for and start these courses. Staff may also use the Professional Development > View All link > Refine by Office : NCVPS to view all courses offered by NCVPS through NCEES.

Please click on the titles below to register for the upcoming NCEES Webinars which are held most Tuesdays from 4-5 p.m.  A certificate to turn into your PSU for approval of .1 CEUs will be provided to participants that complete the feedback survey at the end of each live session.
