NCDPI K-12 Mathematics Webinar
Equitable and Effective Teaching Practice
Wednesday, February 16, 2022
3:30 PM - 5:00 PM
North Carolina educators, district leaders, and coaches are invited to join the NCDPI Mathematics team as we explore Five Equity-Based Practices for learning in math classrooms. This virtual session will discuss how these practices can be used to help students meet the expectations outlined in the standards and to build more inclusive practices to reach, engage, and nurture underserved students.
Participants will examine the differences between representative and non-representative lessons, assessment considerations, and questions for reflection and their impact on the student’s mathematics learning and identity. The equity-based practices are designed to support standards-based instruction that align to varying student math identities and their multiple funds of cultural experiences. This session supports student identity as an asset to their educational experience in the mathematics classroom by providing access and opportunity for them to engage in high quality mathematics instruction.

Calling All STEM Reviewers!
Your Support is Greatly Appreciated
The 2021-2022 North Carolina STEM Schools of Distinction Recognition Program is underway. With nearly 20 schools across the state having communicated their Intent to be recognized as a leading STEM program in North Carolina, we are asking those STEM educational leaders, who have familiarity with the STEM Schools of Distinction process, to assist with the Review of this year's applications.
Individuals presently leading within a NC recognized STEM school, or any individuals who have served as past SSoD reviewers, are asked to provide updated contact information by completing this Reviewer Application by January 14th.
There will be a required Virtual Reviewer training January 25th repeated again January 27th (you choose one) for those selected to participate. The applications will be shared the week following the February 4th deadline and then reviewers will have two weeks to complete their review and share feedback. The number of reviewers assigned will be dependent upon the number of submitted applications.
Thank you for continuing to drive quality STEM programming in North Carolina!
