Hour of Code 2021: December 6-12

It’s Computer Science Education Week and Hour of Code 2021!

The Hour of Code started as a one-hour introduction to computer science to show that anybody can learn the basics and to broaden participation in the field of computer science. It has since become a worldwide effort to celebrate computer science, expanding to all sorts of community efforts.

PRCs 176 & 177 – Step 2 Deadline

As a reminder, draft programs plans for both PRC 176 (Summer Bridge Academies) and PRC 177 (Career Accelerator Programs) are due December 15th. The links and supporting documents can be found on the OLR website. Please note that these are drafts and can be modified as the OLR team works with your PSU to fine-tune the programs. If you need a 7-day submission deadline extension, email Lynne Barbour with “PRC Extension” as your email subject.

2022 NC GreenPower Solar+ Schools Program

The NC GreenPower Solar+ Schools 2022 Program Year is almost here! Any NC K-12 school may apply for this partial grant opportunity to receive a 5 kW solar array complete with a weather station, real-time data monitoring, a STEM curriculum and teacher training.

NCVirtual is excited to release the new E-learning Advisor Orientation course! This course will help E-Learning Advisors across the state as they work NCVirtual programming and support enrolled students. Learn about the funding formula, the registration process, grading policy, valuable resources, and how to best ensure success with online students.

Questionnaire on NC PreK-12 Literacy and Equity

We rely on educators across all disciplines and subject matters to help students improve as readers. We want to know more about teachers' instructional choices, resource needs, and ideas for how to improve reading instruction for North Carolina students.

In partnership with the Friday Institute for Educational Innovation and NCDPI, we are asking teachers to participate in a research study to understand how NC teachers approach reading instruction across the preK-12th grade continuum.
