The K-6 Cycle for the Presidential Awards is now open!
Nominations and applications are now open for the 2021-22 cycle of the Presidential Awards for Excellence in Mathematics and Science Teaching (PAEMST) for K-6 teachers of science, technology, engineering, mathematics, and computer science.
The entire application cycle has been moved forward a few months, with nominations closing on Friday, January 7 and applications due to be completed by Sunday, February 6.
Visit http://www.paemst.org to nominate a great K-6 teacher!
Did you know that a person does not have to be nominated to complete a Presidential Award application?
Each year, several our state’s finalists, and eventual awardees, began their application without a nomination. Any eligible K-6 teacher of science, technology, engineering, mathematics, or computer science can complete an application. To start an application, visit http://www.paemst.org.
If you have any questions or would like to know more about the North Carolina Presidential Awards Program, please contact the State Coordinator for PAEMST, Joseph Reaper, at joseph.reaper@dpi.nc.gov.

Calling All STEM Reviewers!!
Your Support is Greatly Appreciated
The 2021-2022 North Carolina STEM Schools of Distinction Recognition Program is underway. With over 20 schools across the state having communicated their Intent to be recognized as a leading STEM program in North Carolina, we are asking those STEM educational leaders, who have familiarity with the STEM Schools of Distinction process, to assist with the Review of this year's applications.
Individuals presently leading within a NC recognized STEM school, or any individuals who have served as past SSoD reviewers, are asked to provide updated contact information by completing this Reviewer Application by December 31st.
There will be a required Virtual Reviewer training January 25th repeated again January 27th ( you choose one ) for those selected to participate. The applications will be shared the week following the February 4th deadline and then reviewers will have two weeks to complete their review and share feedback. The number of reviewers assigned will be dependent upon the number of submitted applications.
Thank you for continuing to drive quality STEM programming in North Carolina!

Important Update Reminder: Division of Academic Standards’ Google Sites
The Division of Academic Standards is in the process of moving content area Google Sites to a new online home on the NC Department of Public Instruction website. We will continue to use the current Google Sites through December 31, 2021.
Although Google Sites are going away, K-12 Mathematics resources, like the North Carolina Standard Course of Study documents, the Unpacking Documents, K-2 Math Assessment, NC2ML resources, and Math Options Charts, will still be accessible via the NCDPI Mathematics Team webpage.
