Welcome to Home Base - A Quick Video of Who We Are

Each year, PSUs experience an influx of new staff.  The Home Base Team is aware of these changes and has created a short video to help acquaint and reacquaint users with Home Base.

Please checkout the  "Welcome to Home Base" video which gives a quick overview of what Home Base is and how all its components work together. Feel free to share it with your peers and use it in your trainings.

Revisions to Course Code Titles, Credit Value, and GPA Added Value Changes

Some course codes have been updated for your use in the 2021-22 school year. The updates can be found on the Course Code Master List under the appropriate tabs. Please review all your courses to ensure they reflect the EOY title changes. As in years past, local titles will need to be changed manually by PSUs for report cards and transcripts to display correctly.

NCWiseOwl

NCWiseOwl Resources

NCWiseOwl resources will soon be available in NCEdCloud for students and educators leveled by the following categories:

  • Britannica:  Elementary, Middle and High
  • EBSCO: 10-12, 7-9, 4-6, K-3, AP & IB and Professional
  • NC Resources Page: - All Levels

As part of this transition and coming changes to services available through the Department of Information Technology, the NCWiseOwl website will sunset June 30, 2022. The Toolkit will remain available through Canvas and will be provided as a link in NCEdCloud for educators and students.  Direct linking to the Toolkit will remain available for use by PSUs.

Please send any questions to Cynthia Sartain cynthia.sartain@dpi.nc.gov.

EDDIE FEED

EDDIE Feed is Now Working

The EDDIE Feed is now working and the information in both applications (EDDIE and PowerSchool) is in sync.

The feed was returned to service on July 14, 2021.  Upon its return, a few PSUs notified NCDPI that their information in the two systems continued to remain out of sync.  PowerSchool, the SIS vendor, was notified and the problem has been resolved.

NCDPI is appreciative of your patience as we worked to resolve this issue.  If you should experience any sync issues in the future, please submit a case to PowerSchool.

NC Elementary Classroom

Summer School Special Program

Summer School Special Program

PSUs are reminded that all Special Program enrollments for summer school must be entered into the SIS (PowerSchool) immediately if they have not already been entered. This is necessary for state and other reporting.

Additionally, PSUs must use the specific special programs listed below to ensure data accuracy:

  • NC-Summer School - Extension: for students attending an SL2021-7 summer extension program that is not a continuation of the 2020-2021 school year.
  • NC-Summer School - RTA: for students attending 3rd Grade reading camp for Read to Achieve
  • NC-Summer School - Local PSU: for students attending a local summer program that is a continuation of the 2020-2021 school year or is not otherwise described by the other two programs.

The only required elements when enrolling students into these Special Programs are an Entry Date (the student’s first day in the program), an Exit Date (the day after the student’s last day in the program), and the special program name itself. Please contact PowerSchool Support with any questions regarding the NC-Summer School Special Programs.

OCR

OCR/CRDC - Office of Civil Rights Coordinator Contacts in EDDIE - Due Friday, September 24, 2021

Please read and inform other staff as appropriate.

Dear Coordinators,

The Office of Civil Rights Data Collection (CRDC) window for the 2020-2021 school year data will begin in early 2022.  Note:  PSUs that were not open in the school year 2020-2021 are not required to participate in this collection.

  • The first step in preparing for the collection is ensuring the NCDPI has the most recent staff contact information.
    • PSUs must verify or update the EDDIE system with two Staff who have been identified as the 'Office of Civil Rights Coordinator'.
    • Delete any records in EDDIE for OCR contacts that are no longer with your PSU.
  • These staff personnel are the technical contacts for the CRDC and will be responsible for running the PowerSchool CRDC Preview Report, verifying data, correcting and adding data to the Federal CRDC tool, and certifying in the Federal CRDC tool when the collection is complete.
  • PSUs are also strongly advised to verify or update the Student Information Coordinator contact as well.  Updates must be completed by the close of business, Friday, September 24, 2021

More information about the CRDC is located at https://crdc.grads360.org/#program.  Notice on the homepage that there is a timeline of the CRDC phases.

It is important to keep in mind that the NCDPI assists all PSUs with the CRDC by facilitating the transfer of data to the federal submission tool.  No action other than to update your contacts in EDDIE is required at this time.

For questions, please contact Terra Dominguez at terra.dominguez@dpi.nc.gov
