Charter School Advisory Board - April 2021

The North Carolina Charter Schools Advisory Board met remotely on Monday, April 12, 2021. 

 

Meeting agendas are available on the State Board of Education’s (SBE) website under the Meetings tab. There you can also find presentation materials for each agenda item, where applicable.

The NC Charter Schools Advisory Board meetings are live-streamed and available on the NCDPI YouTube Channel. Please make sure you go to the “Home” tab when listening live. Following live meetings, the videos will be held under the “Videos” tab until titled and filed under CSAB videos on the NCDPI YouTube channel.

Applications  

2020 Charter School Application Updates

The State Board of Education (SBE) voted to accept CSAB's recommendations for the 2020 standard timeline charter school applications. The five approved applicants will now enter the Ready to Open process. Applicant instructions and information regarding the upcoming 2021 application cycle will be posted to the Office of Charter School's webpage.

 

 


Amendments and Presentations

Amendments

The CSAB heard two amendment requests: CE Academy's Request to Decrease Enrollment and Movement School Eastland's Request to Increase Enrollment. CE's request was tabled until next month's RTO presentation and Movement School Eastland's was recommended for approval by the SBE.

 

Presentations 

The CSAB heard informative presentations from the Superintendent's Educator Engagement Advisor, Ms. Julie Pittman, and from myFutureNC. In addition, several low-performing schools made presentations and gave updates to the CSAB.
