Data Audits SQL Reports
In the February Home Base Meet Up, attendees were informed that DPI would begin performing data audits on schools in the 2021-2022 school year. These data audits are to assist you with data integrity on items that are used frequently in data pulls. During the meet-up, several people mentioned they would like to see the implementation of the audits as soon as possible and not wait until the 2021-2022 school year. In an effort to meet your request, the data audits have passed testing and have been added to production. The reports are located under the SQL5 tab in the Data Audits section.

P-EBT
The delivery of the third round of P-EBT benefits is beginning. A message was sent in January outlining the P-EBT data being pulled. We wanted to reiterate this information as these data pulls will occur monthly. The next pull is scheduled for March 10th.
In order to assist with questions that may arise, we have outlined the DPI process and sources for extraction and delivery of data to our partners at DHHS.
The P-EBT state monthly data pull from DPI will be looking at the following information from the Students (1) Table:
Data

|

The P-EBT state monthly data pull from DPI will also be looking at the following information from two other tables:
-
Calendar_Day (51) - Used to determine the mode of instruction (In-Session, Blended, Remote Instruction Day) from the school calendar.
- Field - Type
- This is a key field and must be accurate. You need to review your school calendars and make sure the Type is correct for every day.
Attendance (157) - Student Attendance Record
Note: inaccurate attendance records will impact the amount of payment a family receives.
Once the data is delivered to DHHS, they will calculate eligibility and payment amount based on guidance from USDA. For this reason, it is very important that this data is accurate to ensure that students are receiving their benefits. In PowerSchool’s SQL reports 5 tab, DPI created several reports for you to find those students who have no information in the address, mother, and father fields. These reports can be found under the Data Audits report section and are titled “Null Address" and “Null Mother and Father.”
It is important to do frequent audits on attendance data to make sure it is up to date and accurate.
NCDPI is certainly cognizant of the burden that the COVID-19 pandemic has placed on all of us. We, like all of you, are hopeful that these unprecedented times will end soon. While we do not want to add to the great efforts put forth by those of you on the front lines, we do feel compelled to remind everyone of the importance of accurate, complete, timely data and their submission.
The maintenance and submission of the data for which you are stewards will be critical in the future to determine the impact of the virus on our students' education. The data submitted and collected during this trying time will be needed for analysis, decision-making, intervention where appropriate, and policy decisions in the coming years.
We ask that you review your data to ensure accuracy and completeness and verify that all policies and guidance are being followed. Thank you all for your continued dedication to the students, parents, and teachers of North Carolina.
We have confirmed that in the event a student record needs to be updated, DHHS will provide any additional funds due to the student retroactively as long as those corrections are submitted in the updated file being generated on March 10th.
A webinar will be held next Friday, March 5 for information purposes. Please see the Webex registration in the article titled, "P-EBT Information Webinar."

Reminder: Math Options Charts Update
Good day Math Leaders!
The Math Options Charts have been updated on the NCDPI website and on the K-12 Mathematics Google Site.
There have been a few major changes to the format and layout of the Math Options Charts.
- The Math Options Charts are now based on the students’ entry year into high school. There are three Math Options Charts now available:
- Students who entered high school prior to the 2020-21 school year
- Students who entered high school during the 2020-21 school year
- Students who will enter high school during the 2021-22 school year
- The Math Options Charts now contain three charts instead of four, as the Community College and Career after High School Charts are combined into one chart.
On the K-12 Mathematics Google Site, you will find the Math Options Charts Web Page. On this webpage you can find:
- Support videos:
- Using the Math Options Charts
- Updates to all Math Options Charts for February 2021
- Math Options Charts

Summary of Course Changes for the coming school year
- AP44 Horticulture II Landscaping has been added as a new option that is available for all students.
- Interior Design Changes:
- FI51 Interior Design I, F152 Interior Design II, and FI153 Interior Design Applications courses will become disabled starting the 2021-22 school year, except for students completing credit recovery. Students who have earned credit in FI51 or FI52 can still use those courses to meet the mathematics graduation requirements.
- The Interior Design courses have been given new course codes and titles.

FI21 Interior Design Fundamentals
|

- Due to the new courses having less math content, only one pair of the new courses will now earn a math credit for graduation. This new paired course option will be immediately available to all students.
- FI21 Interior Design Fundamentals AND FI23 Interior Design Technology
- See Memo from CTE.
Further guidance is provided for the use of Introductory Mathematics, Alternate Mathematics I, and Alternate Mathematics II for students who have been identified with a learning disability in mathematics and whose IEP team determines the students cannot master the content of NC Math 1.

Reminder: Update to COVID 19 Pass/Withdraw
Previously, NCDPI requested all PSUs make changes to their Special Codes Scale to ensure COVID grading codes are not utilized in the 2020-2021 school year and moving forward. NCDPI instructed PSUs to uncheck Use As a Final Grade checkbox to prevent teachers from erroneously assigning these codes. However, the Home Base team has discovered this process causes display issues on the transcript with the UNIVERSITY OF NORTH CAROLINA BOARD OF GOVERNORS MINIMUM COURSE REQUIREMENTS REMAINING for courses that received PC19 or WC19 codes.
To alleviate the discovered transcript issues, and prevent teachers from utilizing these codes after the 2019-2020 school year, all PSUs who entered the codes in their NC 10-Point Grade Special Codes Scale should follow the steps in the Post COVID-19 Special Code Scale Update QRD and update their Grade Scale to correctly reflect grading options moving forward and prevent transcript display issues for students who received PC19/WC19 codes.
The setup of these codes should not change per the initial setup described in the COVID-19 Pass/Withdraw Codes QRD. Please ensure you have not unchecked Use As a Final Grade for both PC19 and WC19 codes, and Grad Credit should not be unchecked for PC19.
