The North Carolina Charter Schools Advisory Board met remotely on Monday, December 7th and Tuesday December 8th.
Meeting agendas are available on the State Board of Education’s website under the Meetings tab. There you can also find presentation materials for each agenda item, where applicable.

2020 Charter School Application Updates
CSAB heard from six applicants at the December 2020 meeting. Two second round applications were moved forward for approval by the SBE: Bonnie Cone Leadership Academy and American Leadership Academy. Both schools are partnered with Charter One. Four first round applications were heard and were recommended for denial by the SBE.

Amendments
The CSAB recommended approval of the three amendment requests this month: Sterling Montessori’s Mission Statement, The Expedition School’s Weighted Lottery, and Aristotle Preparatory Academy’s Request to Employ Charter One.
Renewals 2021
CSAB heard from the five schools currently recommended for five-year renewals. CSAB will discuss all renewals schools (2021) at its January meeting and vote on final recommendations to send to the SBE.
