Consortium Involvement: Haiti Teacher Fellows program member; International Education Week planning committee member

Why teaching about Latin America and the Caribbean is important to her: "Teaching about Latin America and the Caribbean is so important and valuable because it advances students’ knowledge and appreciation. It is an opportunity to not only inform students about the different countries in that region, but a chance to highlight the rich culture, history, strength, and resilience of its people. Seeing students’ excitement and appreciation for learning about our neighboring countries, and in many cases their own country of origin, can be energizing and encouraging. Therefore, it is important that lessons developed about Latin America and the Caribbean are rigorous, authentic, and meaningful. These types of lessons are more likely to inspire and sustain student learning."
