Culture Cafés for Students

The Culture Café sessions are 1-hour lectures on various cultural topics in Spanish, French, Chinese, Japanese, Russian, Latin, and Arabic to broaden students’ cultural and world views. The presentations are delivered by the faculty of the North Carolina Virtual Public School (NC Virtual) as ancillary instruction for interested students on a variety of themes related to the target languages. In addition, NC Virtual also offers the IworkNCVirtual speaker series with presentations about career paths and jobs by those working in the field.

Here are the upcoming Culture Cafés and a few of the Iwork episodes with connection links:

If you would like to see the information from past broadcasts, please see the archives posted on the NCVirtual Cafe page and/or the Iwork Series page.

The first 40-45 minutes of each session will be an interactive presentation and the last 15-20 minutes will be an open Q & A session where you can type your students' or children's general questions about the countries and cultures into the chat or comments. You are also welcome to just attend the Q&A portions of the presentations listed here:

Whether in Zoom or on YouTube, participants will not be able to turn on their videos, and they will be muted. Only presenters will have their videos on.
