Digital Learning Standards & ELA Standards Crosswalk
As you may know, the International Society for Technology in Education (ISTE) Standards for Students have been adopted as NC's Digital Learning Standards (DLS). The DLS are designed to be integrated by classroom teachers and other licensed staff into the North Carolina Standard Course of Study.
To assist ELA educators, Technology Facilitators, and/or Digital Learning Coaches, the NCDPI ELA Team collaborated with the Digital Teaching and Learning Division to develop a standards crosswalk for each grade-band. This crosswalk maps the DLS and English Language Arts (ELA) standards. Educators may use the crosswalk to assist them in integrating the DLS into grade-level ELA instruction to support content learning. These resources are housed in both the Digital Teaching Learning Division's Google site and Virtual Implementation Kit (VIK) under "Standards-Based Resources."
*Note: While not every ELA standard is listed, the DLS can be integrated within all language domains: reading, writing, speaking and listening, and language. Educators should use their knowledge of the ELA standards and use their professional judgment when selecting ELA standards and DLS for integration.
