World View remote learning modules

World View to You! Remote Learning Modules

World View has developed several professional development opportunities for K-12 and community college educators to advance global education strategies and resources during challenging times.

These modules provide small doses of learning, done when it is convenient for YOU. Minimal technology is required, and individuals can choose their own path because modules can be completed in any order.

Here are the modules currently available:

  • Connecting NC to the Caribbean Through a Common Experience
  • Developing Your Own Global Competencies
  • Exploring Global Conflict and Peacebuilding
  • Exploring Populations, Climate Change and Sustainability in the Global Classroom
  • Global Competency and Globalizing Your Curriculum
  • Integrating Global Music Across the Curriculum
  • Recognizing Perspectives and Breaking Down Stereotypes
  • Strategy for a Global Classroom: Visual Literacy Tool and Resource

Each module has an estimated amount of time needed to complete assignments, from 1 - 3 hours. World View will keep track of what modules have been finished and how many contact hours have been accumulated. Modules and contact hours are tracked starting from the date of registration, and individuals will have one month to complete 10 hours. After 10 hours of assignments are completed and turned in to World View, educators will be offered 1 Continuing Education Unit.

Please see the Remote Learning Modules page on the World View website for details.

There are limited remote learning module scholarships available for individual educators or teams of four or more educators from the same school. Please contact Julie Kinnaird (kinnaird@unc.edu) if you are interested in a scholarship.

If you are from Elkin City Schools, Person County Schools or in a school or district that is a member of the Roanoke River Valley Education Consortium, please contact World View directly at kimcar@email.unc.edu to register.

#WorldViewChats - A Weekly Twitter Chat to Explore Global Ed Resources

UNC World View (@UNCWORLDVIEW) hosts weekly Twitter Chats on Wednesdays at 1pm EDT. Weekly chats bring educators together to discuss global issues and resources that can be used to integrate global themes in instruction. Educators are asked to review one featured resource ahead of each live chat. Resources may include a short film, article, podcast, poem or other resource that is available online.

North Carolina K-12 and community college educators can earn Continuing Education Units (CEU) or Professional Development Contact Hours by participating.

Additional information is available on the #WorldViewChats page.
