Please complete the following survey by July 7.

The State Board of Education is considering delaying adoption of the remaining new Social Studies Standard Course of Study at the July SBE meeting.  The SBE is considering this delay to provide an opportunity to refine the standards and ensure responsiveness to issues regarding civil rights and multiple voices.

Note that the new Economics and Personal Finance standards were adopted in May 2020 and are available for implementation.

Please respond to the following questionnaire by Tuesday, July 7 by noon so that NCDPI can share your thoughts regarding implications of delaying the adoption.  Please submit one only response per LEA or Charter.

Growing Success for ELs Summer Conference

To: ALL Educators

The NCDPI ESL/Title III team is pleased to announce the 7th Annual Growing Success for ELs Summer Conference 2020 #NCELs20. As our population continues to grow, it is critical for us to develop and strengthen our skills, processes, and resources to teach English learners (ELs). It is our goal to bring inspired teachers and leaders from across the state together in forums like this, to share best practices.

In order to provide professional development opportunities during remote learning, the NCDPI ESL/Title III team has scheduled nine free online courses. Trainers on the EL Support Team have planned interactive sessions to share instructional strategies to support ELs throughout North Carolina.

Click on the image below to navigate the digital flipbook or type on your browser bit.ly/NCELs20. You will access information about the kick-off session, training topics, schedule, and registration links.
