Charter Schools Advisory Board (CSAB) May Meeting

The North Carolina Charter Schools Advisory Board met remotely on Monday, May 11, 2020.

Meeting agendas are available on the State Board of Education’s website under the Meetings tab. There you can also find presentation materials for each agenda item, where applicable.

The NC Charter Schools Advisory Board meetings are live-streamed and available on the NCDPI YouTube Channel.

2020 Ready to Open Updates

The CSAB heard from four schools preparing to open in 2020: Achievement Charter Academy, Elaine Riddick Charter School, Kaleidoscope Charter High School, and Wilmington School of the Arts. The schools updated the Board on facility preparedness and current enrollments.

 

Charter School Funding

Ms. Alexis Schauss, Chief School Business Officer for DPI’s Financial Business Services Division, gave a presentation to the Board regarding charter school funding. The presentation is available on the Eboard site for this month’s agenda.

 

 

Amendments

The CSAB recommended approval of three amendment requests: Bradford Prep’s weighted lottery, Willow Oak Montessori’s relocation, and Davis Academy Chadbourn’s delay.
