New NCMA + A+ Schools Collaboration

NCMA LEARN A+ Lessons Website

A+ Schools has collaborated with the North Carolina Museum of Art to create a set of educational resources for teaching in and through the arts. A+ Fellows have developed 10 arts-integrated lesson plans that have been paired with 10 works of art selected from the museum’s collection representing a variety of artists, time periods, regions and styles. Every A+ school will receive a 10-poster set to use in their school. Contact Michelle Burrows for more info. The accompanying lessons created by A+ Fellows, along with additional resources, can be viewed at the NCMALearn website.

North Carolina's Vision for Comprehensive Arts Education

In today's globally competitive world, innovative thinking and creativity are essential for all school children. High quality, standards-based instruction in the arts develops these skills and effectively engages, retains, and prepares future-ready students for graduation and success in an entrepreneurial economy. Dance, music, theatre arts, and visual arts, taught by licensed arts educators and integrated throughout the curriculum, are critical to North Carolina's 21st century education.
