Welcome Back!

NC Science Classroom

Lab Safety

Lab Safety Awareness!

As the new school year starts, be sure you are aware of lab safety within the science lab and classroom.

A set of six videos from the American Chemical Society (ACS) addresses high school lab safety issues including safety mindset, Safety Data Sheets (SDS), appropriate dress and personal safety equipment, preparing for emergencies, and RAMP strategies. See Resources for Science Teachers on the Laboratory Safety page.

SBE Policy SCOS-017 (formerly GCS-F-017), Science Laboratory Safety, requires development and implementation of a Chemical Hygiene Plan (CHP) by each Local Education Agency (LEA). Plans are to be reviewed, updated, and submitted annually by January 31st.

For additional information or to submit plans contact Jami Inman at jami.inman@dpi.nc.gov .
