K-12 STANDARDS, CURRICULUM & INSTRUCTION

NC DPI K-12 Mathematics Summer Institute 2019

This session, designed for district level teams, will focus on the continued support of the K-12 Mathematics standard course of study. The session will serve as a follow-up to the implementation sessions from 2016 and 2017 for high school and K-8 mathematics, respectively. Therefore, it is highly encouraged that districts thoughtfully choose individuals who can contribute to the planning and roll-out in their LEA. Due to limited capacity, attendance will be based on a first-come, first-serve basis with special consideration given to priority districts. There will also be a virtual option for LEAs unable to send representatives.

GoOpenNC

#GoOpenNC Open Educator Opportunity and Resources

Educators across North Carolina are experts at curating curriculum, especially when looking for alignment to standards and customizing resources based on student needs and local contexts. This fall, NC educators will have access to #GoOpenNC, a platform for sharing, evaluating and remixing openly licensed education materials. #GoOpenNC is an initiative led by NCDPI in collaboration with ISKME, a national partner in open education resources.

This summer, a select number of educators will have early access to #GoOpenNC in order to learn about the features of the platform and begin leading the work of statewide collaboration around curriculum curation and improvement. #GoOpenNC is looking for distinguished educators who can be leaders in curriculum review, alignment and feedback.

The #GoOpenNC Curriculum Review Academy will run July 22nd - August 2nd with a blend of synchronous and asynchronous engagement to allow the selected participants to work at their own pace, while still collaborating statewide. The Academy includes five hours of virtual engagement and five hours of independent curriculum review. As a gift of gratitude, participants will receive a $100 Amazon gift card upon completion of the Academy. Additionally, participants will receive a certificate of attendance for professional learning aligned to the NC Digital Learning Competencies (0.5 CEUs). Note: Participants will need to follow district/school procedures for approval and submission of CEU documentation.

If you are interested in applying, please complete this form by July 8th.
