North Carolina Governor's School Seeks Talented Staff for Summer 2019
The North Carolina Governor's School is seeking talented and dedicated staff to fill available positions for the 2019 summer session. Particular positions of note are:
- A Mathematics Instructor at Governor's School East (held at Meredith College in Raleigh)
- A Natural Science Instructor at Governor's School West (held at High Point University in High Point, not Salem College as noted on the website)
Each position is six and one-half weeks in duration, with orientation beginning on Monday, June 10, and the session conclusion on Wednesday, July 24. Employees receive a salary based on position and qualifications, and are eligible for room and board on campus.
This is a unique opportunity to work with some of North Carolina’s brightest and most talented high-school students in an invigorating learning community that is free from tests and grades and the pressures that come with them. Global Education Leaders Program
June 17 - 21, 2019 UNC Chapel Hill
Spend five days in Chapel Hill with World View and immerse yourself in global learning! Today’s globally connected world requires that we prepare students to become globally competent citizens who are able to work collaboratively across cultures.
World View’s Global Education Leaders Program brings together current and aspiring leaders from K-12 schools, districts and community colleges. Together we will examine global issues that impact students and their communities. Participants are led by expert university faculty as they engage in dialogue about key global topics and explore leadership strategies to support global education initiatives in classrooms, schools and campuses. Picture Perfect STEM Lessons Workshop in Winston Salem, June 25-26, 2019
The workshop begins at 8:00 a.m. and ends at 3:00 p.m. each day.

Lunch is not provided.

Hotel Suggestion: Holiday Inn Express at the Vineyards, located about 15 minutes from the school.
The two-day workshop is ideal for elementary educators who want to integrate STEM and literacy in their classroom or STEM lab. Participants build a solid understanding of STEM and literacy integration and the 5E model by engaging in model lessons and hands-on learning tasks. By the end of this two-day experience, educators have the skills, knowledge, and confidence they need to successfully begin implementing Picture-Perfect STEM Lessons in their classrooms.
The train-the-trainer option is designed to help curriculum and instructional specialists, science coaches, and other teacher-leaders conduct workshops to introduce the Picture-Perfect STEM program to teachers in their own school or district. In addition to the Two-Day STEMposium, you will receive everything you need to get your colleagues started (facilitator guide, PowerPoint slides, videos, handouts, picture books, posters, and hands-on materials) as well as a follow-up webinar and ongoing support from the authors.
