How prepared are you to foster global awareness in your students or support that in your classrooms or schools?The Global Educator Digital Badge provides an opportunity for educators to focus their professional development on developing their own global context and understanding of how to integrate global education throughout curricula. It also provides the opportunity to build global competency in students.The State Board of Education approved North Carolina Global Educator Digital Badge (GEDB) is available for the following educator categories: Teacher, Teacher Leadership Specialist, Library Media Coordinator, Instructional Technology Facilitator, School Counselor, Career Development Coordinator, School Social Worker, School Psychologist, Speech Language Pathologist, Instructional Central Office Staff, Principal/Assistant Principal, Superintendent. Global Ready Schools

Schools and Districts that wish to apply for the Global-Ready Acknowledgement or Designation status in 2018-2019 should complete the Intent to Apply form. This ensures that interested applicants receive resources and updates to assist them through the application process.  School applications are due on April 6, 2019. Complete the Intent to Apply form for your school. *Note: The window for district applications ended on December 1.


For Martin Luther King, Jr. Day

Brussels Study Tour Grants

Each year, the UNC Center for European Studies chooses a cohort of NC K-12 teachers, community college instructors, and HBCU/MSI faculty to join a study tour to Brussels, Belgium. This tour, organized by the University of Pittsburgh’s European Study Center (and formerly by UNC-CH), is a five-day professional development opportunity to learn about the European Union in collaboration with university partners from across the nation. For those educators with a strong interest in European Studies, this study tour will provide you with the opportunity to gain first-hand knowledge and experiences to further your understanding of Europe and the European Union.

EU Today Essay Contest

This essay contest is for middle school, high school, and college students, teachers, faculty members, business and non-profit professionals and all other community members are invited to share their thoughts on the importance of the European Union and transatlantic relations. The essay deadline is February 15, 2019.

2020 NEA Foundation Global Learning Fellowship

The NEA Foundation Global Learning Fellowship increases access to global training and experiences by providing global education professional development opportunities for K–12 public school educators. Deadline: February 4, 2019.
