On Monday, July 24, North Carolina Superintendent Mark
Johnson will visit Camp Pathfinder at Triad Academy in Winston-Salem. Johnson
is conducting a listening tour to learn more about innovative instructional
programs and practices being utilized in the state’s public schools or that could
benefit the state’s public schools.
“Camp Pathfinder focuses on students with dyslexia and related
language-based learning challenges,” said Johnson. “The
program provides public school teachers Orton Gillingham training to meet the
learning needs of these students. I
look forward to seeing these practices in action and discussing the training with
public school teachers who take it back to their schools.”
Triad Academy at Summit School is located in Winston-Salem
and serves students in grades preK-9. Camp Pathfinder is an educational and
recreational summer program for students in rising 2nd – fifth
grades who have difficulty with reading and writing.
