NC Charter Schools Advisory Board Schedules Meeting
The North Carolina Charter Schools Advisory Board will meet Tuesday, June
13, from 9:30 a.m. – 3 p.m., in the 7th Floor Board Room,
Education Building, 301 N. Wilmington Street, Raleigh.
The agenda is available on the State Board of Education’s website under the Meetings
tab. The meeting will be audio
streamed for those who cannot attend. Questions regarding this meeting

 Webinar Charter School ADM (Average Daily Membership) Projection System: Phase II Final Verification - Initial ADM Confirmation

The CSADM is an online system designed to assist each charter school administrator and board chair with improving the accuracy of key components in the budgeting process. Phase II will be used for the first installment of the annual allotment and will be the maximum actual ADM that the school may be funded on for School Year 2017-18.
Phase II Final Verification - Initial ADM submissions are required of all:
• current charter schools with 2016-17 school attendance,
• charter schools approved by the State Board of Education to open in School Year 2017-18, and
• University of North Carolina (UNC) laboratory schools scheduled to open July 1, 2017.

NC School Jobs by PeopleAdmin - Reminder
There are over 70 districts live in the system and over 40 charter schools are beginning to post positions as well, so we encourage you to take advantage of this resource as soon as you can. We have thousands of applicants in the system which your school will have access to when you go live in the system.
The steps associated with implementation are:
- Contact Craig Tucker at craig.tucker@dpi.nc.gov to request an NC School Jobs workbook
- Complete the workbook and submit your school’s logo
- Participate in Training
- Familiarize yourself with the system
- Execute a few cutover steps and go-live in the system
If you have been trained and are not currently scheduled for next steps, please contact Craig Tucker via email.
Webinar training classes are scheduled on a weekly basis. Please visit this website to learn more about and register for the training opportunities. Webinars will last 1.5 hours with the ability to continue an additional 30 minutes if requested. Team members from the service provider, Jeff Davenport and Bill Barry, will lead the trainings and assist you with the implementation process.
 Home Base Opt-in Update - Reminder
As of Friday, June 2, forty-nine charter schools have opted-in to the Home Base suite of tools for the 2017-18 school year.

NC Department of Public Instruction (NCDPI) Updates
Council on Educational Services for Exceptional Children to Meet
The Council on Educational Services for Exceptional Children (CESEC) will
meet June 13-14 in the Education Building, 301 N. Wilmington
Street, Raleigh.
The June 13 meeting will be held in Room 504 from 9:30 a.m. – 3:30 p.m. This
will be a training session for Council members regarding their roles and
responsibilities.
The June 14 meeting will be held in the 7th Floor Board Room from
9:30 a.m. – 2:30 p.m. (this may be an abbreviated meeting). This meeting will
be audio
streamed for those who cannot attend.
Agendas for both days are attached.
The purpose of the CESEC – as established in the Individuals with
Disabilities Education Improvement Act (IDEA) federal regulations in §§ 300.167-300.169
and the North Carolina General Statutes in §115C-121 – is to advise the State
Board of Education with respect to:
- the unmet needs of children with special needs and in developing and
implementing of policies related to the coordination of services for disabled
students;
- developing evaluations and reporting on data; and
- developing corrective action plans to address findings in federal monitoring
comments.

 Teacher Of The Year (TOTY) Streaming Event
The National Humanities Center is proud to launch the
2017-18 America in Class webinar
series with an exclusive streaming event of Teacher of the Year,
a new documentary that offers a poignant look at the teaching
profession through the eyes of North Carolina high school social studies
teacher Angie Scoli.
More than simply a first-person look at the rewards
and challenges of teaching, the film also asks us to consider the ways that our
culture and media expects educators to be either “heroes” or “hacks” - and the
struggle for our teaching faculty to find the right balance in their lives.

Credit By Demonstrated Mastery (CDM) Refresher Webinar
Announcing a CDM Refresher
webinar to be held on Tuesday, June 13, 2017 from 2:00 – 3:30
This session is intended for
those individuals directly involved with CDM implementation at either the
school or district level. We will quickly review the goals and key points
to consider when implementing the CDM policy. We will share pertinent
information from the CDM implementation guide and share resources available
within the CDM toolkit. This refresher is designed to support those individuals
new to CDM implementation and those who may need support in developing
effective CDM practices and policies at the school and/or district level.

Pro Resources
Spring training
for PowerTeacher Pro (Gradebook) is winding down. Another round of
training sessions is being planned for July and we will have those dates
out soon. As we get closer to the implementation of PowerTeacher Pro we
are sharing resources that you may find helpful. Keys to a successful PowerTeacher Pro Rollout will
help in ensuring your rollout is successful and your teachers are on board and
happy.
Another resource
is the Using the PowerTeacher Pro Quick Reference Card.
There are many other resources available in PowerSource.
We have also
shared that Canvas has implemented a new solution for provisioning/rostering
with their SIS integration platform. This new solution, specifically
leveraging SIF 2.0 technology, transfers your PowerSchool data into Canvas with
bulk uploads and/or near real-time events. For more details, please
