The NC Education & Innovation Tour Coming to Surry County Schools

Mark Johnson to Visit Friday on Listening Tour

Mark Johnson, the NC Superintendent of Public Instruction, will visit Surry County on Friday as part of his NC Education & Innovation Tour. Earlier this year, Johnson pledged to conduct a listening tour to hear directly from educators, parents, and community leaders across North Carolina.

“The Surry County School District is an example of a high performing school system in one of North Carolina’s more rural counties” said Johnson. “Surry County has worked diligently to create a culture of success for all students. I look forward to hearing from Surry County educators, students, and stakeholders about the keys to their success.”

Johnson will tour Meadowview Magnet Middle School and interact with a student panel and Surry County Board of Education members. Johnson also will visit East Surry High School to meet with students and teachers and to learn more about the college-going culture of the school.
