Global-Ready School/District Acknowledgement or Designation
The 2016 – 17 Global-Ready School and Global-Ready District Intent to Apply is now available. Submitting the Intent
does not obligate the submitter to complete the application but it does
ensure that interested applicants receive resources and updates to
assist them through the application process. NEW for 2016-2017 is the
Acknowledgement is available for schools and districts. Additional
information is
available online.
Global Educator Digital Badge
As a reminder, if you have teachers and administrators pursuing their Global Educator Digital Badge
(GEDB) their Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) must be turned in to NCDPI.
Once the MOA is received the GEDB candidate will have access to the
online management platform where they may access resources and any
additional forms or information to assist them through the process.

Foundation offers grants to promote the understanding of environmental

Global CTE Opportunity!
Asia
Society is seeking career and technical education (CTE) educators to
participate in the pilot of a Global CTE Professional Development Course
beginning on October 1. The course consists of two online, interactive
modules. The first module introduces the concept of global competence as
well as project management and their importance to CTE. The second
module demonstrates how to integrate these two concepts into what is
already being taught in the classroom. An accompanying toolkit will
provide additional resources including: sample projects ready to be used
in CTE classrooms, global career planning resources, workforce
readiness rubrics, crosswalks of global education and CTE standards,
global career profile videos, talking points, and more.

PBS Education 50 for 50 Contest: Students in grades
6–12 are invited to write an open letter to the 2016 Presidential
Candidates with ideas on what needs to change in government to get more
accomplished. Two students will win a trip to Las Vegas to view the
final Presidential debate. Deadline: September 21, 2016.
Prudential Spirit of Community Awards: This award
honors students in grades 5–12 who have engaged in a community service
project during the last 12 months. Winners receive $1,000 and an
all-expense paid trip to Washington, DC. Deadline: November 8, 2016.
2016 Global Folklorist Challenge: The Smithsonian and
Cricket Media have partnered for this challenge, which invites students
to research, document, and tell the story of a cultural tradition in
their neighborhood. Deadline: November 30, 2016.
Toshiba/National Science Teachers Association ExploraVision Program:
The ExploraVision program challenges teams of students to research the
technologies and scientific principles that could have a great impact 20
years from now. Deadline: February 6, 2017.

Schools could see an infusion of $120 million to support local diversity
efforts under the Stronger Together School Diversity Act of 2016. US
Education Secretary John King Jr. recently held up a network of magnet
schools in Connecticut as a potential national model for improving
