Register of Deeds Prepares for New ADA Website Requirement
Sampson County’s Register of Deeds, Anita H. Lane, has been working with her office’s land records vendor, Logan Systems, Inc. to ensure compliance for the Sampson County Register of Deeds' website. A phased implementation plan is underway that includes database upgrades, a new public search program approved by the North Carolina Secretary of State, and the launch of a more modern, mobile friendly website. A third party certification firm has been engaged to independently review the website and certify compliance once remediation efforts are complete. Ms. Lane notes that these updates represent an important investment in accessibility, efficiency, and improved service for the public.

Greek Chicken Pitas
March is National Nutrition Month, and what better way to celebrate than with a meal that includes all five food groups in one! Tomatoes count as our fruit; spinach, peppers, and onions help us increase our veggies; grilled chicken serves as our lean protein; whole wheat pita helps us make at least half our grains whole; and reduced-fat feta cheese meets our recommended dairy. This is an easy recipe that I have used many times in our cooking workshops. You can repurpose the ingredients for a tasty salad later in the week!
Greek Chicken Pitas
Makes 8 pitas
Ingredients:
- 1 ½ lbs chicken (boneless skinless breasts or tenderloins)
- 4 bell peppers
- 2 onions
- 8 Whole Grain Pitas (find in the deli/cheese section on a kiosk)
- Tzatziki sauce (find in the deli/cheese section by the hummus)
- Reduced fat feta cheese
- Spinach
- Fresh tomatoes, diced
- Seasonings of choice
- Olive oil
Directions:
- Preheat oven to 425°F
- Cut bell peppers and onions into strips (**see note if you’re short on time). Place in a bowl with 1-2 tbsp olive oil, salt and pepper to taste. Throw on a baking sheet and bake for 20 minutes. (If using frozen, place in a stir fry pan instead. No need to thaw first).Â
- While the peppers and onions are cooking, cut chicken into bite size pieces. Place in a bowl with seasonings of choice (I like salt, pepper, about ½ tsp ginger powder, 1 tsp onion powder, and 1 tsp Italian seasoning). Mix well.Â
- Heat a large frying pan over medium to medium high heat. Add in about 1 tbsp olive oil. When hot, add in chicken and cook until cooked through (about 8 minutes, flipping once).
- Optional: Toast pitas with a little olive oil and sprinkle of salt.
To build your chicken pita:
- Start with tzatziki sauce along the middle of the pita, sprinkle with feta, then sprinkle with chopped spinach. Add in your chicken, peppers, and onions. Fold it up and enjoy!
*The amount above will make around 8 pitas
**You can also use a frozen bag of chopped peppers and onions if you’re short on time
