Department Highlights - Finance Department
Transitioning from a manual, paper-based requisition process to an electronic workflow using the Munis ERP system, the Finance Department has successfully led the first phase of the County Government's paperless innovation initiative. This shift has significant reduced processing time, cut down on paper and printer usage, and streamlined the requisition and purchase order process.
Department heads and staff now have improved access to purchasing data, allowing for better tracking and management of expenditures. This important improvement paves the way for future enhancement. Our Finance Department is committed to smarter and more efficient operations for both employees and our community in the County!

No Bake Energy Bites
This month’s recipe is one that was shared with me by another FCS Agent. It has been one of my go-to’s in kids camps, when prepping snacks for my family, and when preparing a quick energy filled snack for friends who are new moms. The blend of whole grains and healthy fats helps make this a snack that will satisfy you for hours. Switch up the nut butter and the chocolate chips, or roll in crushed pistachios for a variety of other flavor combinations!
Ingredients:
- 1 cup oatmeal
- ½ cup peanut butter
- 1/3 cup honey
- ½ cup ground flaxseed
- ½ cup mini chocolate chips
- 1 tsp vanilla
- 1 cup coconut flakes
Directions:
- Mix all ingredients except coconut flakes in a bowl.
- Refrigerate the mixture for a while in order to make the mix firmer and easier to work with.
- Pour coconut flakes onto a plate or shallow bowl.
- Roll about one tablespoon of the mixture into a ball. Then roll the ball into the coconut flakes.
- Refrigerate or freeze for later.
*Makes about 20 energy bites.
Notes:
-I love to just throw the coconut flakes in with the rest of the ingredients.
-This mixture gets VERY sticky, so you may need to take breaks to wash hands, use gloves, or use a melon baller.

Meet — Sandy and Rizzo
The black one Rizzo is 9 years old. The brown one Sandy is 11 years old.
Sandy and Rizzo are two inseparable souls—born together, raised together, and now searching for a new chapter together.
These senior dogs lost their beloved owner, but they haven’t lost their love for life… or for each other.
Separating them would mean breaking a bond that’s lasted a lifetime.
Available to adopt at the Sampson County Animal Shelter!
