Frigid temperatures into the lower teens and single digits are expected tonight in Raleigh. Black ice conditions are expected tonight and Thursday morning as melted snow and ice refreezes in the low temperatures.
The City of Raleigh has canceled or rescheduled several City services in response to the ongoing hazardous conditions:
Due to inclement weather conditions, the Utility Billing Division’s hours of operation will be modified on Wednesday, January 29 and Thursday, January 30. Agents will be available to answer customer calls to 919-890-3245 from 10:30 am until 4:00 pm. Automated services accessed by calling 919-890-3245 will not be affected – they will continue to be available 24 hours a day.
Solid Waste Services collections have been canceled today. Thursday's collection has been delayed by two hours. The curbside collection schedule has been pushed back one day --- Wednesday’s routes will be collected Thursday, Thursday’s routes on Friday, and Friday’s routes on Saturday.
Capital Area Transit (CAT) bus service will operate on regular schedule today. Some delays and partial reroutes are anticipated due to road conditions. Riders can use GoLive, the real-time bus predictions system, to track their bus online, or by phone at www.triangle.transloc.com. Please call 919-485-RIDE (7433), or visit www.raleighnc.gov/transit, for the latest news and updates regarding CAT bus service and detours due to inclement weather.
Accessible Raleigh Transportation Program (ART) service has been canceled for today.
The City of Raleigh Accessible Raleigh Transportation (ART) Program will delay service until 8 a.m. on Thursday, Jan. 30. Below freezing temperatures tonight and tomorrow morning will create hazardous driving conditions in the early a.m.

The City is continuously salting and plowing major thoroughfares and CAT bus routes. The 35 trucks will continue working through the night. City residents are thanked for their patience and requested to give crews plenty of room to work to clear the streets to provide for everyone’s safety.
The City Parks, Recreation and Cultural Affairs Department facilities will close tonight at 6:00 p.m. Afternoon and evening programs are canceled today, except for Weather Bound and Track Out programs.
All programs scheduled before noon on Thursday are canceled, with the exception of weather-bound sites operating at 8:00 a.m. Track Out programs will begin at 9:00 a.m. Programs running after noon will operate unless notified otherwise.
