WRAL Soccer Complex Field Upgrades
The City of Raleigh is almost complete with
two lighted, state of the art synthetic soccer fields at the WRAL Soccer Complex
with the Capital Area Soccer League (CASL). The fields will be lighted and have
special drainage features to allow for quick play after a rain or other bad
weather. The project uses recycled rubber products and has a life of about ten
years until the artificial grass needs to be replaced. The funding is through a
2/3 bond passed by Raleigh City council in 2012.

KaBOOM! Playground Build at Peach Road Park
On August 6, City Council accepted a KaBOOM! grant to build
a new playground at Peach Road Park. In 2006, 2009, and 2010, the City of
Raleigh partnered with KaBOOM!, a nonprofit organization that promotes
community build playground projects, to build the playgrounds at Apollo Heights
Park, Green Rd Community Center, Lane Street Mini-Park and Southgate Park. All four projects were very successful and involved a number of volunteers from the
community coming together to construct new playgrounds in a single day! The KaBOOM! community playground build at Peach Road Park will take place on September 28.
