Public Meeting on Parklets Set for Thursday
The public is invited to attend a meeting on parklets Thursday, July 25, from 6 p.m.to 8 p.m. at the City of Raleigh’s Urban Design Center, located at 220 Fayetteville St. The City will be accepting public feedback at the meeting.
City staff members will present research on parklets and propose the development process in Raleigh. Parklets are sidewalk extensions built to encourage pedestrian activity, improve the local economy, and spur social interaction and sense of community. Parklets are an emerging trend in such places as San Francisco, Philadelphia, New York, Chicago and Oakland. Smaller cities and towns are also exploring the use of parklets.
For more information on the public meeting, contact Grant Meacci at the Urban Design Center, 919-996-4637, or email grant.meacci@raleighnc.gov.
