Technician Licenses Now Available

The State Board of Examiners of Plumbing, Heating & Fire Sprinkler Contractors will be issuing technician license(s) without examination to individuals who meet certain journeyman qualifications criteria from October 1 - December 31, 2012 for the following:

• Plumbing Technician License
• Heating Group 1 Technician License
• Heating Group 2 Technician License
• Heating Group 3 Technician License
• Fuel Piping Technician License

The criteria for obtaining any of these licenses without examination are as follows:

1. The applicant is required to fill out and submit a completed application (available for download at www.nclicensing.org) along with a check in the amount of $95.00 which includes a $30.00 application fee and a $65.00 license fee).
2. The applicant for licensure must hold a current specific journeyman certification from one of the following jurisdictions:

• New Hanover County Inspection Department
• Mecklenburg County Inspection Department
• City of Greensboro Inspection Department
• City of Raleigh Inspection Department

*After December 31, 2012, all technician licenses will require an examination! Once the license has been issued, it will only be placed in an active status when the technician lists their license under a qualified licensed contractor.
