Piedmont Laureate Blog

Ian Finley
"It’s terrifying. The blank expanse of the word processor screen, malicious in its promise of opportunity…if only I was a better writer. But I’ve put it off long enough. My students are writing essays for NPR’s venerable This I Believe series, so I should write one too. And after all, I remind myself as I finally tap the keys, it’s ok if this draft is horrible. I can always revise it later. The thought clears the fog and fear away. I believe in the value of the rough draft, and the power of revision."

The above excerpt is from 2012 Piedmont Laureate Ian Finley's blog.
