Sertoma Arts Center Gallery Show
Join us Sunday September 9, 2012 from 2-4pm for the opening reception of works by, Adrienne DiFranco, Mark Wroblewski, Larry Dean and Heather Bowler. Adrienne DiFranco will be showcased in the main hallway. Her body of work is comprised of embroidered artworks of varying themes, from “Autumn” to “Key West”, and can be as large as 50 inches tall. Mark Wroblewski will be displaying his illustrations and drawings behind the main desk. Larry Dean and students will be displaying their mixed media work in the Raleigh Room Gallery, and Heather Bowler will be showing her jewelry works in the display case in the lobby.
This event is free and is open to public of all ages. Work will remain on display through the month of September. The Sertoma Arts Center is located at 1400 West Millbrook Road, Raleigh, NC 27612 919-420-2329.
Raleigh Parks and Recreation Department Hosts NFL Punt, Pass and Kick Competition
The Raleigh Parks and Recreation Department will host the NFL Punt, Pass and Kick contest Friday, September 21 at 5:00 p.m. at Laurel Hills Community Center located at 3808 Edwards Mill Road.
The NFL Punt, Pass and Kick contest is a national skills competition for boys and girls between the ages of 6 and 15 to compete separately against their peers. Established in 1961, the PPK program is the oldest NFL Youth Football program.
Girls and boys in five separate age divisions (6-7, 8-9, 10-11, 12-13, and 14-15) compete against each other in punting, passing and place kicking in a fun and engaging forum. The PPK program is free to every child who wants to participate!

Anthony Greenup Basketball Clinic
Lake Lynn Community Center and Brier Creek Community Center will be hosting a basketball clinic for boys and girls ages 6 to 13. The clinic will be instructed by Anthony “Airport” Greenup of the Harlem Globetrotters.
The Anthony Greenup Basketball Clinic is a four hour event that was created to excite kids about the game of basketball. Children will take part in age-appropriate drills and basketball fundamentals, in a positive and safe environment.

The registration fee is $45 and include age appropriate basketball skills training, presentation from a guest speaker, clinic t-shirt, refreshments, and a certificate of participation. Youth winter basketball registration will be held from October 1-12. You can register in person at any local community center or online at RecLink.

2012 Adult Co-ed Kickball Registration
Raleigh Parks and Recreation's fall adult kickball registration is August 27th- August 31st. Space is limited so please register early. There has to be at least eight players on the roster and ready at game time, four players must be women.
The entry fee is $300.00 per team. Games will be held at Laurel Hills Park, Oakwood Park, or Walnut Creek Softball Complex. You can register at 2401 Wade Avenue in the Athletics Division between the hours of 8:30am - 5:30pm.

Making Molas with Paper
The Pullen Arts Center presents, “Making Molas with Paper”, an art class for 7-12 yr. olds, on Sundays September 9th- 30th, from 3-4pm with instructor Marie Lawrence. Large colorful animal designs like the Kuna Indians of Panama! An $8.00 Supply Fee due to the teacher at the first class. Perky Paintings of Creatures
The Pullen Arts Center presents, “Perky Paintings of Creatures”, an art class for 7 – 10 yr olds, on Sundays September 9th – 30th from 1:30-2:30pm, with instructor Marie Lawrence. Tropical birds, lizards, frogs, and fish! Add zing to watercolor and acrylic paintings using markers, crayons, pastels, and colored tissue paper!
