The Raleigh City Council today approved a contract for the construction of the Halifax Park and Community Center to Bradley Construction, Inc., the low bidder on the project. Bradley Construction is a North Carolina based company.

The $3,155,200 contract is funded by the 2007 bond program and includes construction of a new 17,000-square-foot community center with a gymnasium, a dividable multi-purpose room, a weight room, office space, an outdoor playground, a basketball court and parking areas. The project has been registered with US Green Building Council and is designed to achieve LEED Silver certification.

Halifax Park and Community Center is located at 1015 Halifax Street, on a 1.5-acre site leased from the Raleigh Housing Authority behind William Peace University.
