Upcoming at Pullen Arts CenterSave the date for Pullen and Sertoma Arts Centers’ Annual Fall Arts Fair - October 20, 2012The Fall Arts Fair will be held at Pullen Arts Center on Saturday, October 20th, from 10am – 5pm, rain or shine. Registrations for booth spaces will be open to current Pullen and Sertoma participants from July 9th – July 22nd. Registrations will be open to everyone beginning July 23rd. Pottery Workshop - Animal Boxes with Becca Floyd Join Pullen Arts Center Saturday & Sunday, August 25 & 26 for Pottery – Animal Boxes Workshop with Becca Floyd. Using simple tools, we will create a variety of thrown boxes and sculpted animals, combining them to make fun, interesting pots with lots of character. We’ll explore innovative handbuilding and decorating techniques, such as adding feet and flanges, stamping and stamp-making, line-making, and brushing. There will also be historical discussions about Eastern and Western culture’s use of animals with pottery. Bring your ideas and we’ll resolve them as a group. Some previous wheel experience required. Jewelry Workshop - Torch Fired Enameling with Kathryn OsgoodTorch fired enameling is a fast and fun way to add color to your jewelry. In this workshop, students will learn methods to shape and texture copper, creating forms to enamel with a jewelers torch. We will experiment with enameling techniques of sifting, shading, stenciling, layering color, wet packing, fusing small glass beads, and sugar firing. Techniques for setting enamels will be covered. Basic metalworking skills required.
