On August 13, 2026, at approximately 12:18 p.m., Raleigh Police Department officers were dispatched to 2201 Whistling Straits Way in reference to an attempt to locate Sheremy Gwenette Dillard.
Family members reported that they had not heard from Ms. Dillard and advised officers that she lived at the residence with her boyfriend, Rickey Harper.
Upon arrival, officers located Ms. Dillard deceased inside the residence. Her injuries appeared to be consistent with those sustained in a stabbing.
Harper was not at the residence when officers began investigating the incident.
Raleigh police detectives gathered evidence at the scene and utilized Flock cameras, which provided investigative leads that helped identify the suspect in this case.
The case was presented to the Wake County District Attorney’s Office, and a murder charge was authorized against Harper.

Today, at approximately 2:45 p.m., Harper was located in Montgomery County, Pennsylvania, and taken into custody by the Plymouth Township Police Department.
The Raleigh Police Department extends its sincere appreciation to the Plymouth Township Police Department for its assistance in locating and taking Harper into custody.
