Raleigh’s tree-lined streets bring out some of the best fall colors in the state — and when the leaves come down, the City’s annual loose leaf collection program is ready to roll.
2025 Collection Season Begins November 12 This year’s collection season begins Wednesday, November 12 in Zone 11. Crews will move through the remaining zones in the weeks that follow, weather and equipment permitting. Residents can track progress and find collection dates using the Seasonal Leaf Collection webpage and interactive map.
How to Prepare Your Leaves
- Place loose leaves at the curb, but not in the street.
- Keep piles free of sticks, rocks, and other debris.
- Check the collection schedule to know when to set them out.
Weather Watch Collection schedules can be delayed by cold, wet, or icy conditions. City staff will provide updates if weather interrupts the schedule.
Other Leaf Management Options In addition to the loose leaf collection program, residents can:
- Mulch leaves for healthier lawns and gardens.
- Use bi-weekly yard waste collection: place leaves in your cart or up to 15 biodegradable paper bags for pickup.
Looking Ahead This fall marks the final loose leaf collection season managed by Raleigh Transportation. Beginning in 2026, the program will transition to an enhanced weekly yard waste service led by Solid Waste Services. Residents will receive more details on the updated program in the coming months.
