On Tuesday, August 6, at approximately 7:04 AM, the Raleigh Police Department responded to a reported stabbing at the intersection of Chavis Way and East Lenoir Street. Upon arrival, officers located Elijah Prescott Kimbeni, 21, with injuries consistent with stab wounds. Kimbeni was transported to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. There is no suspect in custody.
During the stabbing investigation, it was determined that Kimbeni was the suspect involved in the shooting incident that occurred earlier that morning at the intersection of Davie and Blount Streets at approximately 1:01 AM. Upon arrival, the officers located an adult male with gunshot wounds. The victim was transported to the hospital with serious but non-life-threatening injuries. Information obtained indicated that the shooting occurred in the 300 block of Fayetteville Street, and the victim fled to the intersection of Davie and Blount Streets, where officers located him.
Kimbeni was charged with Assault with a Dangerous Weapon with Intent to Kill Inflicting Serious Injury.
These cases continue to be ongoing investigations and additional information will be released at the appropriate time.
