Update:
The suspect detained in this incident, Steven Mark Stanley, 22, has been arrested and charged with Assault with a Dangerous Weapon with Intent to Kill Inflicting Serious Injury and Possession of a Firearm by a Felon.

The victim, a 15-year-old male, remains in critical condition. Due to the victim's age, his identity will not be released.
This is an ongoing investigation.

On Monday, October 23, 2023, at approximately 2:45 p.m., the Raleigh Police Department responded to a shooting in a gravel parking lot in the 300 block of South Person Street.
Upon arrival, officers located one male victim with a gunshot wound. The victim was transported to the hospital with serious injuries. One subject has been detained in connection with this incident.
Officers and detectives are on the scene determining the circumstances surrounding this incident. Additional information will be provided at the appropriate time.
Due to heavy police presence, the public is advised to avoid the area as the investigation progresses.
