Thanks for taking a moment to read our latest newsletter. Raleigh Permits is part of the City’s efforts to demonstrate our commitment to a development review process that is timely, predictable, efficient, and most importantly, customer-oriented. Part of our commitment to this is the creation of our new Innovation Team. This team consists of staff across our building safety, customer service, and planning groups with the charge to:

• Simplify, combine, or eliminate unnecessary process components.
• Increase coordination between departments.
• Redefine and improve review benchmarks.
• Create clear communication for staff and customers.
• Standardize laws and codes when necessary.

You’re invited to share your experiences with our development plan review and permitting services. our responses will remain anonymous and will contribute to Planning and Development’s continuous improvement efforts. The survey closes Saturday, October 14.

Karen Ray Receives the Downtown Advocate Award  At the State of Downtown address on September 13, the Downtown Raleigh Alliance awarded Assistant Director Karen Ray with the Downtown Advocacy Award. This award recognizes a government employee whose advocacy and service has positively impacted downtown.

Jason Ruff Named President of the North Carolina Building Inspectors Association Congratulations to our assistant director of Building Safety for being named the new President of the NCBIA. Jason has served in a number of positions on the board of NCBIA and was appointed president at the annual conference held in August.
