July 2023

July marks the start of a new fiscal year for the City of Raleigh and with that there are few items to pay special attention to in this edition of the newsletter. The new fiscal year brings an updated Development Fee Guide. I encourage you to take a few minutes to review the changes. In addition, there is a new Permit Portal Quick Reference Guide that provides best practices for using the portal. There are also new updates to the Unified Development Ordinance. Lastly, there are several opportunities to engage with staff in the development review process. Join us at the Development Stakeholders meeting August 10 to receive updates in-person as well as share any feedback and concerns. Details are below.

Solar panels can be installed on properties in historic districts through a Certificate of Appropriateness.

Development Fee Guide 

Updates to the Development Fee Guide took effect July 1. The new fees are effective until June 30, 2024.

Changes to the UDO 

UDO Supplement 28 includes Ordinance 517-TC-479 associated with TC-19-21, Use Standards - Protective Yards.
