Update:
At approximately 5:21 PM, the Raleigh Police Department responded to the intersection of Western Boulevard and Varsity Drive for a reported motor vehicle collision. Upon arrival, officers located an adult male suffering from a gunshot wound in one of the vehicles involved in the crash. The adult male was pronounced deceased on the scene. There were no other injuries in the crash.
There are no suspects in custody, and this is an ongoing investigation. There was no threat to the public; this appears to be an isolated incident.
The intersection of Western Boulevard and Varsity Drive has reopened.
The North Carolina State University Police Department assisted in the investigation.
