At approximately 6:41 AM, the Raleigh Police Department (RPD) responded to a report of a larceny of a motor vehicle from the 500 block of Dennis Avenue. The vehicle, a Ford F250 work van, was equipped with a GPS monitoring device.
The Wake County Sheriff’s Office (WCSO) assisted the RPD with the investigation and observed the vehicle at the intersection of South Smithfield and Dunn Roads.
WCSO pursued the vehicle from Bethlehem Road onto I-87, then to New Bern Avenue and I-440. The pursuit was discontinued when the vehicle stopped on Capital Boulevard due to traffic conditions.
The North Carolina State Highway Patrol (NCSHP) assisted with the pursuit.
The vehicle crashed on I-440 near Poole Road. The occupants of the vehicle were taken into custody, and one suspect was transported to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
This investigation is ongoing, and additional information will be released at the appropriate time.
